Refining your Palate as you Rise in Frequency
Food and frequency go hand in hand. Raising your frequency refers to awareness of and deliberate manipulation of your own energies. We eat to gain or sustain energy. As we raise in vibration we are naturally drawn to foods which match or elevate our frequency.
To share an experience in my own life... I went vegan for about 10 years, dropped back into meat eating during major life-shifting events (comfort food?), then returned to what I though of as "moderation"-- vegetarian with frequent spurts of seafood and dairy. This diet allowed for lots of pizza, starchy items and ice cream. While doing my work from home tasks, taking customer orders, I noticed at times my mind was dull... my thinking stymied. I wasn't as swift as I pride myself on being. My body felt heavy... as if I was aware of every tug of our earth's gravitational pull. I was gaining density. I could feel it. My vibration was one of density, weight, and fullness. As light vibrates faster it loses density. My mind and heart wanted higher spiritual experience, greater intuition and fulfillment yet I was limiting myself to low-vibrational experience through my diet.

"Perception is intricately linked to vibration. You will only experience that which resonates on the "station" you're consciously tuning into."

For me, the wake up moment came after my body turned up its warning levels in response to a single sandwich. After meditating and chanting for months on certain higher-vibrational goals, I ate a crab sandwich (having bought two of them!) and threw it up on the spot. My body would not assimilate it. It would not "feed" me. There was nothing wrong with the batch, as the people who I was with had just had the same sandwich. And it was so good going down (I thought). The bread was a soft kaiser, perfect texture. The crab meat was hand prepared right there at the store. In my mind I was aware of raw food; aware of healthy alternatives which were open to me. But someone mentioned this new crab sandwich to me and I allowed it to penetrate. Wont make that mistake again.
The next morning I went to drink a hazelnut late, heavy on the espresso, from Dunkin Donuts, which I have also loved. This time the espresso seemed so heavy, so smokey that I couldn't bare to drink it. After one sip I had to put it down. Even the oatmeal, which I reasoned would soothe my stomach after yesterday's crab Picasso... it too triggered my "yuck" radar (And yes, by Picasso I mean I painted the bathroom wall with vomit). An old version of myself would chalk it up to bad meat, then drink Pepto Bismol and keep on doing what I want... eating whatever I want. But that me is only a whisperer now... a remnant. I know better so I do better.

That was my line-in-the-sand moment. Actions must align with truth on the high-vibrational path. Mystic union alludes us if we fail to see and act on truth. That crab was a conscious, living being. I was eating death. That is the truth. My body does not want death... will not tolerate death as sustenance. Because, frankly, death is not real sustenance but an illusion of such.
"Allow your taste to teach you. Begin to sense the vibrant life force within your food-- and sense when death is present. Sense when the food is heavily processed, full of chemical additives and the like. You can taste it. You can smell it. Discernment is a spiritual gift and a power."

The way is through love... loving oneself equates with nourishing the body with the best foods available. Fresh fruits and vegetables can seem too simple to effectively eclipse hearty sandwiches, steaks, and so on with their dripping sauces and robust flavors. But I've come to see those flavors as just a camouflage. We hide the death with salt, pepper and spices. The higher self perceives the truth we deny. The more we listen to -that- voice, that self, the more we will come into alignment with highest purpose and real fulfillment. The simplicity of this path is also the source of its power.
What's more, contrary to that programming about "robust" flavor and feeling full, refining one's palate reveals the absolute decadence of fresh, living foods which foster buoyancy and lightness of being.
Think for a moment about the way "poor people" eat and the way "wealthy people" eat. The way "wealthy" food is prepared is "high end." You don't expect to see a wealthy person shoveling slop into her or his mouth. There is a mindset of elevation at play. Just for example. Its about experiencing "the better things" of life.
Try preparing a gourmet vegan raw food meal and you will quickly appreciate why it costs more to shop at markets such as Whole Foods. Fresh, quality ingredients are key. Of course you can grow produce in your own garden and enjoy the wealth of health without the emphasis on cost. Either way, the point is to embrace that stream of decadence, rediscovering the incredible value in simple, earth harvested produce.

"Refining your palate requires that you "think" before you eat."
Refining your palate requires that you "think" before you eat. What were we doing before? Eating mechanically, based on social convention, familial habits and personal greed. This is a time of clearing programs... outdated operating systems are being replaced. You are free to become your best self... awake and floating higher.
Putting it into Practice:
- When you are about to eat, hold the food in your hands; feel for its life force. What sensations do you have in your body? What thoughts pass through your mind? You are awake. Pay attention to what you intuit.
- When shopping at the grocery store, go to the produce section and allow a certain food to call to you. Maybe its the color that draws you. Do you need to eat purples today? Maybe greens? Go with it. Search for a raw food recipe when you get home or design our own.
- Pay attention to how you feel -after- you've eaten. Is your body energized or sluggish? Are you thinking clearly or do you feel dull and sleepy? If its the latter, you may want to avoid putting that item back in our body again.
- Do you have an allergy to wheat or soy? Pay very close attention to your body and thoughts after eating anything containing these items. Its harder to meditate when you're full of mucous.
- Realize that what you often crave is a certain texture of food. Explore vegetarian or vegan alternatives and you'll find no loss of deliciousness... at all. Like eggs? Try scrambled tofu or mashed cauliflower. You could try a rawfood quiche. There are endless possibilities.
- Stop coming from a place of poverty and lack. You don't have to eat everything on your plate as if you will never have a chance to eat again. There is no fear here. Similarly, you aren't limited to "fast food on the fly." Take your time. Think as you eat. Feel as you eat. If you find yourself rushing through the day to the point where you can't discern your foods properly and peacefully, it may be time to change your environment and alter your commitments. Its 100% fair to make YOURSELF a priority. Self-love and self-care are paramount.
- Play a game of refinement. Everyday, choose the best foods and drinks based on life force energy. Treat your body as the divine temple it is, only putting holy sustenance inside. Then, you can radiate your light, your wisdom, your bliss-filled presence to the world.
