Being high and being grounded is the same. They have the same root of being. This is the center point. Zero point. We often praise and pursue states of "heightened" awareness... states of ecstasy and so on. But, there are times when we absolutely -must- be very present within the body construct. So, it is crucial to maintain the same sense of elation even in sitting still; even while not seeming to "move" in the direction of one's desires.
We are coming to terms with non doing. In the midst of all this high frequency talk, non-doing feels like a huge slowdown. Hitting a wall. We must remember that it is not the personality which is the doer. You are not the doer. The true you has nothing to do... if free from all bounds, all limitations, and all constructs. Consciousness has nothing to do. This is the most challenging and often most painful aspect of your self-realization.
It's all well and good if the "I" can take all the personality stuff into enlightenment land. If the person can keep all her or his collected minutia of samsaric grasping. The efforting is the last beam to fall. The last remnant to go.
You, that I self aka the learned identity, the personality, wants to be the one with all the merit of accomplishment. The Buddha field is an amorphous consciousness. There is no individual self. All is self.
So the task is to turn one's attention around, not focusing on what the body construct can -do- but rather focusing on what is. Being present in the moment allows creativity of the supraconscious self to unfold, to manifest tangible palpable effects aka "things."
This is not new material. It has been said time and time again. However, now, in this time place, it is being realized. The world construct will shift in sucha way that it provides one an opportunity to sit and do nothing. Preparing one's own food. Not engaging in social activity. Just remaining with the self. At worst it becomes depression, if one is not properly conditioned and taught by a true teacher. Under the right circumstances, this seclusion is yogic in nature. One must always maintain awareness of Buddha consciousness. Neither male nor female, simply is-ness. Consciousness itself.
Continuing as began... Being grounded is too often neglected. The sense of "waiting" draws a certain aversion. But the thinking is erroneous. Let go of the object... the "thing" which is waited FOR. Clos ethe time gap. There is no separation. This is not just some slogan, some catch phrase. There - is- no - separation. The self is walking thru self, breathing self, sitting on self, eating self... Self.
Let your disappointment die. You don't die... the disappointment does. Slay your expectations. It feels like dying. Just allowing is painful. It sounds woo woo and sparkly, all this meditation talk. But it is like setting yourself on fire.
Being grounded in the present moment seems "un-spiritual." We want to be in the sky someplace. Floating. Mind full of airy things, goals, desires. That's how humanity has allowed itself to be tricked... confused, not realizing those airy thoughts and desires are also "things."
There is no thing here.
Go into the silence. See for yourself.
This is tree medicine. Roots firmly, deeply, planted in earth. connected. Secure. Safe. Simultaneously reaching to the sky and bearing fruit. Too often we reach without attention to our planting. We would have it that we float away like leaves, screaming whee like children on a whirl-a-twirl. But then, you have this body... it must be good for something, right? It is your ship... to move thru this density while maintaining a consciousness of lightness. You aren't from here. Your spirit is something else. So one grounds. Present in what is, not bound to the past or to desire about the future. Neither is a hindrance, neither makes one a slave. This is what liberation is. Freedom from physical things and freedom from mental things alike. Oneness.
