On Devotion
A disciple serves out of reverential love. No longer ruled by egoic self gratification, a disciple turns desire into devotion, longing to praise the Beloved - gratified in that alone. Devotional love is not discretionary or dependent on receiving anything from the Beloved. It seeks only to please the Beloved, it lives only for this end.. to satisfy the Beloved's precious will and to praise Him for the honor. Devotion lives to praise God for His very being, for His appearance, for His word, for His unending reservoir of love and beneficent protection. We praise Him without ceasing in song, in verse, in prayers of myriad form...
seeking nothing for ourselves... seeking only that He receives our adoration
because He is worthy.
