EXALTED MYSTIC UNION

Exalted Mystic Union

On Headship Veiling: Being in Order

Picture
Our belief in a supreme God/Divine order manifests tangible effects in our everyday lives. It is a vital mooring. Most notably, such a belief equates to an acknowledgement of the veracity of male headship. Acceptance of this concept - this reality- reflects our own willingness to take responsibility for the part we each play in maintaining Divine order. We are either in order or out of order. Those who are out of order open themselves up to being righted by those who are self-mastered and in Divine alignment or at worst, prey to those forces which feed on disorder and isolationism.

Living according to male headship, much like the acceptance of God the almighty and all knowing, means accepting that there is one focus, one supreme authority which governs us. It means we turn to one place to get our marching orders. The name we use to call on God reflects this understanding. There have been and still are many names for the varying manifestations of God's power. However, focusing on subsidiaries creates confusion. Polytheism (like the all too prevalent gender-based jockeying for equality) resolves at the apex of causal oneness... with the creator. There is one ultimate Divine Truth at the root of myriad expressions. We are a multitudinous Divinity, it's true, but we are a multiplicitous manifestation of a core duality - the male + female polarity. We are head and body, mind and action. We of course can be broken down ad infinitum to arm, leg, heart, blood vessels, toes and so on. But fundamentally we are head and body with all the rest serving a supporting role in the maintenance of the one entity. Where the head leads the body follows.

Picture
Our oldest names for God reflect this Divine Truth of duality. AMEN, YHWH, JHVH, Elohim and Yab-Yum for example all contain the male + female seed of being.
  1. "Atum-Ra, the self created, willed Himself into being..."
  2. Amun is represented as both the virile ram which engenders and the pregnant woman who births.
  3. "Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created."
  4. "Jehovah is Unity manifested in Duality."
Male + female can be understood accordingly:
Truth + means of Truth's perpetuation= Eternal experience of being; Life.
They are seed + soil, positive + negative, giver + receiver, thought + feeling, will + manifestation.
Righteous, loving headship (adherent to a high moral code of ethics) naturally maintains peace as the ground of life's blissful flowering.

Enlightenment and peace are not private ventures. Both are contingent on the experience of union. This great attainment is accessible to all through marriage which is of an exalted mystic nature. Such a union is not based on personal preference but on highest purpose - the role you are here to play in the unfoldment of the Divine design. Function and purpose trump egoic desire. Veiling, therefore, is not simply done to observe feminine modesty but out of respect for the headship we will each come under and the role we will play in marriage. Headship veiling and the way of life it entails helps us to avoid falling into traps of disorder. Joining to a male meant to be with someone else, or otherwise keeping yourself from your proper husband, both yield disharmony. Such disorder has a domino effect. We as women are naturally inclined to be receptive to a man’s needs and desires. It is an effect of our innate, intuitive compassion and capacity to nurture. But one wrong choice can ripple and negatively impact the lives of countless others (i.e. children, relatives, institutions and society as a whole).

Picture
It all comes down to faith and devotion being tangibly demonstrated. Sisters, when you pray, who are you talking to? Unless you have your head covered you may reach an unintended party. This realm is replete with spiritual forces of varying beneficence and malevolence. Prayer involves a certain mental/spiritual power of attunement to the "word" of God... it is delving into the substratum of existence. Worshipful prayer is a supernatural endeavor that goes beyond the veil of physically manifested reality. We each have a direct line to God but that line may be tapped if we aren't living in acknowledgement of male headship... of God's supremacy. If we live as though God isn't supreme and we aren't up under the protection of our husband, then we expose ourselves as prey... vulnerable in every way to attack (emotionally, physically & spiritually). Our womb is the bridge between Father and Son. We perpetuate goodness and light when we choose wisely our leaders and follow in devoted humility.

Wait for Him.

He Sees

Picture
True womanhood entails accepting the edicts and constructive criticism of responsible male custodianship. Loving me is not letting me run rampant through the candy store of life until I make myself sick with gluttony. It is not standing idly by while I ruin myself with self-righteous determination. Mature womanhood accepts gratefully the guidance and discipline which mature manhood lovingly offers.

My mother once told me when I was a little girl, "what I don't see, God sees." It was a somewhat eerie notion which intrigued me, but one I dismissed over time. It became an abstract truth. I accepted that God exists, the "father watches over" and so on but in my everyday life I was largely on my own. My father came to visit on weekends but, although largely responsible for introducing me to spiritual study, he was an abstract watcher. Our belief in and reliance upon God is directly tied to our reliance upon our fathers and husbands. Loving male headship makes God's word palpable. Those men who take on this responsibility through self-mastery and high morality are jewels of spiritual mooring.

Picture
Knowing that God is literally watching should make us each sit up straight, behave properly and honor Him with every thought word and deed. But somewhere along the way we decide there are no consequences to our actions. We revel in the apparent delay between cause and effect. When our own fathers are hands-off we can easily slip into spiritual complacency. Even though God is still in control, we fail to recognize His presence because He often watches silently. God's love manifests as a benign allowance... the freedom of choice. Grow, make decisions, reach for the ideal and when you realize/verbalize that you need Him to actively participate in your life He gladly assumes responsibility. He would do so from the start if we simply ask Him to. But we tend to pull away from His scrutiny and control. Why? What makes each of us so untrusting? We are responsible for maintaining our own faith regardless of what the world throws at us; regardless of any immature males we confront. For His sake and for peace, our confrontation of immature males should be limited and our time spent largely on devotional discipleship - knowing He is watching, mooring ourselves to His word, waiting for the appearance of the Beloved.

He is watching.
